Bistros and Restaurants in Paris France

Paris is a city where you will find some of the Worlds finest chefs serving remarkable cuisine and you will find thousands of cafes and restaurants in Paris alone, ranging from the small bistro such as the Allard Bistro through to exceedingly plush restaurants.

Even at a small traditional restaurant like the Boeuf sur le Toit or at a fancy restaurant setting such as the Train Bleu, the quality of food is of the utmost of importance, but many places have to be booked prior and some require reservations weeks or even months in advance, like the Jules Verne at the Eiffel Tower!

When it comes to the type of cuisine, you have choices from all over the world such as the Blue Elephant which serves Thai dishes in beautiful surroundings, Brazilian food at the Brasil Tropical Cabaret and restaurant, Le Curieux Spaghetti Bar for true Italian delights, or the Tokyo Eat restaurant serving adventurous fusion cuisine.

There is so much variety to tempt your taste buds, yet obviously, it is the French food that really stands out in so many restaurants in Paris and some are in unusual surroundings like L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon, 1970’s style Korova, the family restaurant Apollo or Altitude 95 in the Eiffel Tower and they vary in cost from only a few Euros to hundreds per person.

But if you want to splash out for that special occasion, the finest way of dining in Paris is with Haute cuisine, which is elaborate food preparation and presentation, and just some of the Michelin star rated Haute cuisine restaurants include the Le Grande Cascade close to the Longchamps horse racing, Guy Savoy, Taillevent, Le Grand Vefour and La Tour d’Argent, where you could be paying upwards of 250 Euros per person, but even the most expensive restaurants are cheaper for lunch than in the evening.

Now forgetting Haute cuisine, you will find most restaurants in Paris serving French cuisine have a Menu du Jour or a set menu of the day and this normally means the most reasonably priced meals, which change frequently depending upon what fresh produce is available.

Also, if you want to eat breakfast out it is likely to be at a Patisserie or Tea Salon where you can get croissants, bread, fillings like cold meats and cheeses, pastries and a nice cup of coffee and numerous places such as Angelina’s or Laduree, offer a choice of eating on the premises, or items to take away, but just one point worth mentioning is that many establishments add an additional charge to your bill if you decide to sit outside on their terrace, rather than inside.

When it comes to lunch, you will be able to find numerous different cafes and bistros whilst walking around Paris such as the Cafe Marly with a great view of the famous Louvre museum, and it may be an idea to mark these on a map so that you can find your next fuelling station!

As for the evening, meals are usually served from around 7.30pm and restaurants get far busier from around 9pm onwards.  Plus we would like to point out that Parisians do tend to dress up for an evening out and in most restaurants it is expected that you have a glass of wine or two with your meal, but bear in mind that a table wine can be just as expensive as many others on the wine list, as they are still of excellent quality.

Colchester Night Clubs

The popularity of Colchester as a ‘night out’ destination is due to its easy accessibility by road and rail, the fact that it’s a garrison town for the British Army whose soldiers, when returning from duties around the world, are in need of the relaxation of a top night out, and the large university community. It’s mainly because of these reasons that the amount and diversity of Colchester Night Clubs is vast.

Situated directly on the busy High Street is the splendid Edwardian Baroque Facade of the Colchester Hippodrome. Built in 1905 by local architect J W Start, the Hippodrome has gone through many changes since its days as a fine example of an Edwardian Theater and is now home to the nightclub, Liquid & Envy.

Liquid & Envy is a very popular club which accommodates for the younger crowd. The club is spread over three rooms and has state of the art sound and lighting systems and an art projection wall. It also offers a waitress service and VIP booths, which are bookable in advance. The Envy room is exclusively for use by over 23’s and offers more classic tracks, and disco and party anthems. Liquid has an urban room dedicated exclusively to urban music, which is available every night the club is open. This all adds up to an unrivaled clubbing experience. As with most clubs, the three floor Liquid room is for customers 18 years & above. The club is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday.

Located at Queen Street, opposite Colchester Castle and Castle Park, the Route Bar and Club is a large and trendy venue with several bars, including some pool tables. The club has a big dance floor presided over by a large selection of DJ`s playing tracks from R ‘n’ B to funky house, depending on which night it is. The club asks you to look good when turning up, but has no specific dress code. An added bonus to this club; book your ticket on line with the clubs website and you will not only save money on the entry cost but also include ‘Q-Jump’, so you can walk straight in.

Colchester Night Clubs come in all shapes and sizes and one of the largest can be found at the University of Essex. Situated on the outskirts of town at Wivenhoe Park, the club is called Sub Zero (formally known as Underground) and has a cool warehouse style feel about it. Sub Zero was voted best Student Union Venue when opened and is one of the biggest in the country with a capacity of nearly 1,300. Despite its location, the club is also open to non students. This venue has three bars, a large stage, which includes podiums, and has hosted many top bands and famous named DJ`s, including Paul Oakenfold and Trevor Nelson.

Back on the High Street and one of the newest clubbing venues on the scene, is Skyrooms Nightclub. This club has already established itself as being one of the most popular clubbing venues in town. It has had a recent plush re-design and is split over three floors. The music here varies from Funky House and Drum & Bass to Alternative beats, depending on the night and which room you’re in. This venue also has a heated and covered smoking area that you can take your drinks to. Skyrooms also holds dance competitions with prizes ranging from expensive drinks to cash, and every week has special guest DJ`s.

The Door Staff at the majority of clubs are friendly and professional, and this helps in making the town a safe and relaxing destination for your night out. Plenty of licensed cabs are available on the high street to get you safely home or to where you’re staying at the end of your night out.

This is only a small selection of Colchester Night Clubs on offer when visiting the lively and historic town. Many more can be found within short distances of each other, with plenty of bars and pubs to be found in between. Colchester is definitely the place to go in Essex to dance the night away.
